The main menu, consisting of a vertical line of icons, will appear.
Move your mouse to the lower left-hand side of the Stellarium screen. To change the display to show the view of the sky at a different time: By default the program will initially display a view of the sky at the current time, so you may therefore have a daytime view if you are carrying out this activity during the hours of daylight in Tenerife. Time is actually already passing in Stellarium from the moment you start the program (you can see this in the information presented at the bottom of the screen). This clicking and dragging around the screen does not alter time, just your viewing direction. As you do so, take note of the cardinal points marked in red on the horizon (‘N, S, E, W’) which denote the direction of view – north, south, east or west. You can change the default back to a different landscape in the same way any time you like.Within Stellarium you can navigate around the sky by simply clicking and dragging with the mouse (or with a finger if you are using a mobile or touchscreen device). If you like you can set Standalone Farm as the default for your Stellarium background by ticking the ‘Use this landscape as default’ box. The original Standalone_farm.zip file can now be deleted if you wish. The image should now load onto the screen. THE STELLARIUM ZIP
Click on the ‘Install a new landscape from a zip archive…’ button and select Standalone_farm.zip from the location you downloaded it to. Click on the ‘Add/Remove landscape…’ button. This article provides a script that can automate the process of creating. On your C: drive go to ‘program files’ folder and find the ‘Stellarium’ folder. Stellarium is a free program available for Windows and Mac OS X. When loaded as the landscape it will show the area around our LX200R telescope in our observatory at Standalone Farm. Even on the 13' screen under night vision with the brightness set a bit low everything is easy to read and study. Stellarium has a very good user selectible 'night vision' mode where the screen is tinted red to preserve night vision.

David Davies has photographed and constructed a panoramic landscape image that can be used in the Stellarium planetarium program. I use the 64 bit Stellarium Linux version running under Lubuntu 20.04 on a HP Spectre x360 13' laptop.
